Maestro Linder is known for his conducting versatility - from Broadway and Symphony through Opera to the Jazz world. Twenty Seasons with Theatre Under the Stars in Houston doing all of the great Broadway genre, Twenty seasons with Houston Civic Symphony doing the best orchestral repertoire, TV Specials for CBS, NBC and PBS with an Emmy nomination for the G&S opera , Princess Ida.
Forty seasons with G&S opera in Houston with two awards from the International Festival in Buxton ,England as the Festival’s Outstanding Music Director 1995 and 1998. Two Grammy nominations for jazz CDs he conducted and produced- - and one personal Grammy nomination as Producer of the Year in 2010. Conductor for theatrical shows at 5th Ave theatre Seattle, Milwaukee Skylight Theatre and the Cleveland Opera, and a Conducting Credit for a movie score. Robert (Bob) is also Dean of Fine Arts at Houston Baptist University as well.
Born and raised in Houston, Bill moved to the Hill Country in 1983 when he accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Marble Falls High School. For the next 21 years he served as an administrator in the MFISD. In 1990, while still a Principal, he began working part-time for Fall Creek Vineyards. After retirement from the school district in 2005 his responsibilities with Fall Creek expanded to on-line sales, as well as the creation of the wine club and being responsible for special events. Though his schedule with FCV has been considerably reduced, he continues his marketing efforts with Fall Creek as Brand Ambassador. Rives also served for almost 4 years as the Executive Director of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce.
Bill continues to play music with the rock group Corporal Punishment and with his Lamar High School buddy Billy Martin in their acoustic guitar group The $2 Bills. Now living in Horseshoe Bay, Bill and his wife Janey, enjoy traveling and visiting family in Washington DC and Mexico City, in addition to working with the Highland Lakes Creative Arts in producing art events Sculpture On Main and Paint The Town . He is excited about the desire of Horseshoe Bay Cultural Enrichment to bring unique musical acts and other entertainment to Horseshoe Bay and looks forward to working with the Board to maintain the high standards they have established.
